Texas Antique Weekend

I went to my very first Texas Antique Weekend in Warrenton/Roundtop today. One word...whoa. Talk about being overwhelmed! There was so much junk to see and pick through, but so many people, it was hard to really dig in at one place. What I don't understand is how there can possibly be so many of the same "old" things. I was interested in some of those 40s/50s metal outdoor chairs and was going to buy a couple, but then EVERY single booth that I went in had some. It made me think that they might be mass-produced and made to look old. True for the rusty farm tools and baskets and doorknobs...the list goes on and on. I really didn't see many things that were completely unique. I did only experience perhaps 1% of the whole thing though, so maybe I missed all the good stuff!

My dear husband went along and was a real trooper for the first 2 hours - then he napped in the car. And the traffic? ...Lawd. Note to self: get there way earlier next time. I do want to go back again, but for sure need a game plan and more people, maybe a cooler, some chairs, food...an RV would be nice.

I'm very happy that the weather was nice - we actually had a little cool front come in, so it was the perfect first day of October! I was able to come away with some ideas for "projects" that I can do. I am beginning to think that this whole "junk-is-the-new-chic" thing is a little over-done, though.

Unique Finds and Creative Designs

We are an eclectic collection of Vintage, Retro, and Salvage Junk! At KatyJunktique, we search garage, yard and estate sales, thrift stores, flea markets and the side of the road for interesting treasures that we can offer to you as is or repurposed into something new and useful!

I recently quit my J.O.B. and in an attempt to fund my old-is-new-again endeavor, I listed this commercial coffee bean grinder on eBay.

I've had this thing in my kitchen for about 2 years and was just about to take it to Goodwill. This morning I awoke to my first bid on it - so it will sell for at least $499.00! I am so excited as this not only is more than I made in 2 weeks at work, it will enable me to put some money into getting KatyJunktique up and running!

I am so looking forward to junking again! I can't wait to sand, prime and paint something... But first, I'm going to look around my house for some more stuff to get rid of. Woot, this is fuuuuunnnn!!
